For those of you who have the burning desire to explore Northumberland, we would encourage you to make a long weekend of it (Why else get married on a Monday?!) There’s so much to see, do and - of course - eat!

Le Petit Chateau and William de Percy

Our wedding venue and where we’re staying

A boutique hotel, right at the heart of the action.

Redesdale Arms

5 minute drive from Le Petit Château

An inn with comfortable accommodation and great home cooked food.

Butterchurn Guesthouse

Less than 5 minute walk from Le Petit Château

The Coach House

4 minute drive to Le Petit Château

Most rooms include a fabulous breakfast I believe!

Bird in Bush

6 minute drive to Le Petit Château in Elsdon

Cheaper accommodation options can be found in Newcastle, with plenty of national chain hotel offerings, but will require further transportation considerations to actually get to the venue. Please see our Details page for options.

Alnwick Castle and Gardens

As seen in the first two Harry Potter films, Alnwick Castle has a real air of magic about it (probably helped by the glorious sunshine when we visited - can't guarantee the weather though!) - but the real show stealer for us were the Gardens. A breath taking fountain takes centre stage, and the one-of-a-kind poison garden guided tour is a must visit according to Marnee! (Let's hope she isn't getting ideas already...)

Beamish

An open air living museum in Country Durham, it's only about an hour from the venue (and almost en route for our guests from the South!) and houses so much do you could easily jam pack a day here, with tram and bus transportation that takes you from the 1800s to the 1950s with sweet shops, bakeries, working hairdressers and even classic fish and chip shops across time. It was a true gem of a find and comes highly recommended by us both!

Bamburgh Castle and Bamburgh Beach

This comes highly recommended from anyone who has visited, and is a real beauty of the North that is worth the extra travel time while in the area!

Other suggestions of places to go to really make the most your stay include -

Kielder Reservior and Observatory
Hadrian’s Wall
Jedburgh Castle Jail

William de Percy

Right next door to Le Petit Château

Good hearty food, added with some quirky flavours. They boast the best Sunday Lunch in Northumberland!

As You Like It

Slightly out of the way in Newcastle, it is a quiet spot with quirky decor and offers a bottomless Sunday Lunch. Incredible food (even outside of the Sunday offering) and a nice little spot to enjoy an array of cocktails.

Newcastle Quayside

Sundays (between 10am - 4pm), they host a really amazing street food market with loads of stalls and trucks serving every cuisine you can imagine and loads of crafty vendors, it is such a perfect way to spend a good few hours strolling along.

On the road

For a quick snack on the road, they actually do drive-thru Greggs up North, and if you're anything like Gem & Marn this will blow your mind!

Northumberland national park

Le Petit Château is situated within the National Park

Stunning landscapes, and the backdrop to our wedding venue. It’s the most remote, least visited and least populated National Park in England and Wales.

East Chevington Bay

If our photos have piqued your interest, this is a very quiet little corner of Northumberland that is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful to explore. Be careful though, Apple Maps sent us a strange way to get here - you'd be better relying on 'What Three Words' and Waze to make sure you arrive safely!

Just a note - almost all the beaches are dog friendly.
