Meet the brides
Hopefully if you've found your way here you already know who we are… But a quick whistle stop tour for those of you who need a reminder:
We met at school, discovered a shared love of music that led to some really crazy tour adventures with our favourite bands, fell in love (with each other) and then travelled around making memories before lockdown ruined those plans and we managed to stumble into homeownership and have been faking it until we make it ever since!
I'm sure we'll touch on some more exciting details on the big day, so we'll save any further spoilers and skip ahead…Ahead of schedule, we wanted to do a massive shout out to thank you for wanting to come along to our special day and for making the effort to head up North to celebrate all things us. It promises to be a night of good times all round, with plenty of booze to wash it all down and a total soundtrack of our relationship.
To get you in the mood - we have started some playlists as inspiration for our big day. Don't forget when you RSVP to get some of your song suggestions in there for our DJ to play!
If you can't make it, we'll take photos and promise to not stop talking about it for the next few months (years…) so please don't worry, you won't miss out TOO much - but, in all seriousness, if you're busy, funds are tight, or quite frankly it's just not your scene, we understand and there is no absolutely pressure or obligation to attend, we just ask that you please do let us know as soon as you can!
To those of you who can make it - we'll see you in the pit…! (Joking, of course, gotta get down the aisle first!).
Meet our
wedding party
How many accountants does it take to pull off a decent wedding? Lauren and Gem met at work over 5 years ago and hit it off over their love of wine, dogs and the 1975.
Lauren's clan (Mum - Penny, brother - Jamie, and gorgeous partner - Tommy) will all be in attendance on the day so there's bound to be plenty of giggling as she gets you all up to party on the dancefloor - but let's hope this time Lauren can keep hold of her champagne flute (unlike the Work Summer Party where she got SO excited by Mr Brightside she actually punctured Gem's foot with glass!)
Gem's longest suffering best friend (aside from Marnee of course). They met over 10 years ago at The Rock Show when Foo Fighters first performed at The Bowl in her hometown of Milton Keynes.
He will be seen with his wonderful partner Sadie keeping him in check and will be the first port of call issuing wristbands and helping you find your seats on the day!
Marnee’s oldest friend. The soon to be Mrs Thornton herself arriving as best woman completes the ride or die line up. The missing piece to our day, it wouldn’t be right to get married without Melissa by Marnee’s side, much like Marnee can’t wait to be the tattooed bridesmaid fluffing Mel’s train and spinning her own gorgeous little girl Rosie around the dance floor on her special day in June too.
On our big day Mel will be there as chief hype woman, busting her moves from the clockwork ballerina days to some of the classic emo throwback tunes of Marn & her growing up- come between her and Jack Barakat (or Matty Healy) at your peril! (Sorry Tom..)
One of the first times Gem was introduced to Lucy - we completely stuffed our faces full of street food (something we are now notorious for) & Gem then proceeded to fall asleep while Marn and Lucy were setting the world to rights. Here's hoping the food is as good, but that the bride can manage to stay awake this time!
Lucy may be constantly mocked for her height (and technophobic 'Grandma' ways) by both Gem & Marn, but don't let this fool you, she will be the one masterfully getting everyone organised from A to B on the day (and if in doubt, look for her little handsome mascot Stanley!)
From causing mischief together on the bakery back when they first started working together, to sharing their love of Chinese food and Disney - Yasmine has been a constant ray of sunshine in both Marn's & Gem's life since she started at Marks & Spencer and we wouldn't have it any other way. She was actually the first person to know that the happy couple had *finally* gotten together on the 1st September 2017.
Yasmine will be on hair and dress duty keeping the brides in check and looking picture perfect at all times - though we're sure she will find time to throw some shapes on that trusty dancefloor.
Marnee's forever best friend. Heather & Marnee have been best friends for over 20 years (and have the collection of photos to prove it!) - from dancing round the maypole at primary school to choreographed routines (god help us if Holly Vallance gets played!), here's hoping some of their moves get dusted down and hit the dancefloor on the big day!
Heather has a very keen photographic eye and will no doubt be snapping extra photos / videos on the day so be sure to show her your best side!
Fresh back from South Korea - we couldn't have a wedding without Kiran. From drunken embarrassing tales through that awkward emo teenage era, Kiran really has seen Marnee (and Gemma) at the very worst… and hopefully, as of today, very best!
He will be inevitably causing some kind of chaos on the day and is always the life and soul of the party - so be sure to keep your eyes peeled to witness one of his crazy stories in action (especially if the DJ starts playing 'Come On Eileen'…! Thankfully tonight there shouldn't be any karaoke for him to share his renditions of Avril Lavigne).
